The Romance Reviews GLBT Madness Hop!

Welcome to the Romance Reviews GLBT Madness Hop! It’s going to be a fun and crazy four days! Remember you have from 12:00 am September 27 through September 30, 11:59 pm EST to hop and read all the wonderful author’s post of favorite GLBT books. 🙂 I know that it’s going to really wreck havoc on my purse! But I can’t wait.

M/M romance is my thing. Not only do I love writing it, I LOVE reading it. It’s hard to pinpoint just one book to post so I’m going to post two. I have several fave books. Mysteries and contemporaries are my favorite genres and a good historical. I also have a special place in my heart for best friends fall in love. It’s a big theme in Japanese boys love. And, I’m a avid yaoi reader…

So, here are my two picks which happen to be m/m historicals:

If you like a western love story, read Emily Veinglory’s Dealing Straight. I just recently read it again, and loved it the second time around. What do  I love about it?

1. A love relationship that has no chance of working out – grin.

2. The author immerses the reader in the Old West. I could taste the grit of sand in my mouth!

3. The cynical gambler too afraid to take a chance at love is always fun to read.

4. Beautifully written!

Take a chance on it. Here’s a blurb:

Richard is worn out, used up, and just plain cynical. Son of a wealthy Bostonian banker, he came west to gamble and carouse when his life fell apart. Though a sensitive and moral man, he finds a reckless life easier to bear–since he has no one to care about and no real hopes for his future.

Brave, beautiful U.S. Marshall Wayne Sneddon wants to change all that. He enlists Richard to help him find and take down a bigwig out to get water rights for himself, regardless of the settlers in the way. In part, Wayne needs help, but more, he wants Richard’s company.

In between the shooting, fighting and intrigue, Richard comes to share Wayne’s feelings…but after he finds the courage to share Wayne’s bed, will he find the courage to share his feelings?

Sometimes just about anything is easier than Dealing Straight.

Keeping with the historical theme, another one of my favorites combines mystery with historical. It’s Josh Lanyon’s Snowball in Hell. The setting is the 1940’s in Los Angeles. I was so excited to hear that there will be a second book in the series!

Here’s a blurb:

Los Angeles, 1943

Reporter Nathan Doyle had his reasons to want Phil Arlen dead, but when he sees the man’s body pulled from the La Brea tar pit, he knows he’ll be the prime suspect. He also knows that his life won’t stand up to intense police scrutiny, so he sets out to crack the case himself.

Lieutenant Matthew Spain’s official inquiries soon lead him to believe that Nathan knows more than he’s saying. But that’s not the only reason Matt takes notice of the handsome journalist. Matt’s been drawn to men before, but he must hide his true feelings—or risk his entire career.

As Nathan digs deeper, it becomes increasingly difficult to stay one step ahead of Matt Spain—and to deny his intense attraction to him. Nathan’s secrets may not include murder, but has his hunt put him right in the path of the real killer?

What do I love about this book?

1. I could hear the big band music blaring in the cocktail bars and envision the men in suits and ties wearing their felt hats.

2. Doyle is angst-filled and stressed from his war-experience. He’s a wounded warrior.

3. Doyle and Spain share an incredible attraction but they can’t act on it. It’s the forties and the consequences if they are caught together would be devasting.

4. The mystery is fun.

Contest: There are so many books I love that I can go on and on…so…what is your favorite GLBT book? Leave a comment and I’ll choose a winner for a digital book from my backlist. Also if you subscribe to my blog I will add your name in the hat twice! 🙂

For those that aren’t familiar with my work, I have several m/m romances – contemporary and paranormal. You can peruse my booklist for details.  My latest release is Lover’s Trill – a novella about two musicians who try for a second chance at love. It’s set in the Vienna, a very romantic city!

Classical and rock come together in perfect harmony but violinist, Andre, finds his trust in Leo tested. The rock star must prove his loyalty by using their one common passion – music – to bind their hearts.

Rocker Leo needs a break. From the band, roadies, everything related to his present life. Wandering the streets of Vienna, he chances upon a poster that just might change his life. Andre Revele, renowned violinist, and Leo’s ex-lover, is performing in the city. It’s been years since Leo slipped out of Andre’s life, but he’s never forgotten their passionate love of music and each other.

Andre is shocked when Leo shows up backstage after his performance. He is angry, but he can’t walk away. Against his better judgment, he invites Leo to his hotel for a drink. Not sure what he wants from Leo, he knows what his body wants. A night of passionate sex leads to another, until he’s lost his heart to Leo again.

When Andre finds his trust in Leo tested, Leo must prove his loyalty by using their one common passion – music – to bind their hearts.

Good morning! It’s the second day of the Madness Hop. What a great way to find good books to read – and my c/c is going to see some action! And, I better get back to writing as well. I’m working on the second book – For The Bite Of It 2 (No title yet). Almost done. This is the only book I wrote with a co-author and friend, so it’s a treat to do. I know some of my readers while they LOVED John and Vincent, they didn’t like the ending – or – non-ending as they had said, but we promise to deliever a hot first chapter and a solid ending for the second book. 🙂 Sometimes even us writers don’t see the obvious! 🙂 Viki

I can’t even begin to decide what is my favorite because the list is so long…am I in the mood for contemporary, shifter, mystery, historical…who knows. Right now two favorites are A Better Man by RJ Scott and Second Hand by Heidi Cullinan & Marie Sexton.

  • Trix says:

Oh, I have so many! I keep coming back to Eden Winters’ DIVERSION, which works as a thriller, a buddy comedy, and a scorching m/m romance (with a memorable and unusual hero in Lucky). I also love Lynn Lorenz’s THE BEST VACATION THAT NEVER WAS, Kayelle Allen’s WULF: TALES OF THE CHOSEN, and (if you count m/m/f menage) Tara Lain’s DECEPTIVE ATTRACTION. Evangeline Anderson’s STR8TE BOYS is a new favorite of mine, with its out-for-you and friends-to-lovers themes done very well. I’m sure I’m forgetting at least one, sheesh…
