unlawfulcoverliteGood morning! First of all, I want to thank Viki for hosting me on her blog today, and you for stopping by to say hello.

GIVEAWAY: Please be sure to leave a comment because I’ll be giving away a book from my backlist to one lucky reader! The contest will end on Sunday Feb. 3 and the winner will be chosen using random.org.

Unlawful is a bit of an experiment for me. I originally wrote it as a freebie that I bundled with HIs Own Devices during release week. Afterwards, people were asking where they could purchase it. It’s not a length that Loose Id, the publisher of His Own Devices, accepts, and since I’d already sprung for this beautiful P.L. Nunn cover art (I love her work!), self-publishing it seemed like an obvious choice. So far, it’s gone fairly smoothly, apart from a stomach bug that threatened to throw my whole schedule off last week. Bad bug!

So here we are. This is the first time I’ve put out a story on my own and actually charged for it. I’m excited to see how it all works out!

Unlawful Blurb and excerpt:

In a world where being gay is unlawful and slavery is legal, two men fight for their lives, for their desires, and for justice. Larke is a corporate lackey with a secret. Droje is a freedom fighter on the run. Each spells trouble for the other, but the passion between them will not be denied, no matter what the risk.

“Don’t.” Droje, still naked, clamped down on Larke’s wrist with one hand and tore the phone from his grip with the other.

Larke just managed to stifle his scream.

“If anyone finds out I’m here, it will be bad for you as well as me.”

Dread chilled Larke. He tugged at his arm, but Droje didn’t let go. “Why?”

“For harboring me. You should have left me in that alley like I told you to.”

“I didn’t know. I’m innocent. You’re the terrorist.”

“Freedom fighter.” He still gripped Larke’s wrist. “And how innocent will you seem when they discover the truth about you?”

Larke felt ill. “What are you talking about?” But he knew.

“You’re a drake.”

Larke lifted his chin and put all the disdain he could muster in to his reply. “You wish.”

Droje’s gaze turned smoldering. “It takes one to know one.”

Larke’s heart seemed to stop beating. He couldn’t look away from Droje. The man seemed to fill his entire field of vision. In that moment, nothing else even existed.

Larke remembered to take a breath. The heat from Droje’s muscular body seemed to seep into him, warming him to the core. A thread of arousal curled up from the base of Larke’s rapidly stiffening cock. He wasn’t trying to break free anymore. There was something about being restrained like this. He couldn’t get away…

Reason returned. “Let me go!”

Droje released him.

Larke backed away. He folded his arms around his middle and hoped Droje didn’t notice the bulge in his pants.
